History
The Founding Convention of DuPage United on April 6, 2003
was the culmination of a multi-year organizing effort. A
diverse group of DuPage County religious, labor and
community associations came together in late 1999,
combining their leadership and financial resources to
create a sponsoring organization. Beginning in early 2000,
hundreds and hundreds of one-to-one discussions and house
meetings with ordinary people have been conducted to assess
issues of concern in DuPage County and to identify and
train a core group of volunteer leaders. The leaders and
their institutions formally launched the new organization
on April 6, 2003 choosing the name DuPage United, ratifying
the by-laws, and electing the first Steering Team.
