Foundation (IAF) will offer a 5-day version of its
acclaimed national leadership training in Chicago this
June. Co-sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese and
Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, the course may be
taken for credit if desired.
The training is intended to assist participants to develop
their power and leadership skills in their work as
ministers, students, or community residents. By the end of
the session, participants will learn:
- How to identify and address local issues;
- How to do a power analysis of an institution, community, or larger area;
- What are the universals and tools of public life and how they can be used;
- What kind of power residents of an area need to build to be able to negotiate with government entities, corporations, or other third-sector groups within communities;
- How leaders be more effective public people with whatever “free time” they have; and
- How to reinvigorate failing or struggling congregations.
This training will be non-residential though limited hotel accommodations are available in the area. The tuition will be $300 for leaders from Lake County United or other IAF-affiliated organizations; $600 for people not affiliated with an IAF group. Lunch and coffee/tea will be provided.
